The Society Room Charity Fundraiser | Cat Rescue Shelter CT Cat Connection | CATSquerade Ball

meow!  i went to my first CATSquerade Ball last week at the Society Room in Hartford, CT!!  the CATSquerade was a charity fundraiser to raise much needed funds for the cat rescue organization Connecticut Cat Connection located in Windsor, CT.  Connecticut Cat Connection is a no-kill organization comprised of 100% volunteers.  currently there are 70 cats at the shelter looking for loving forever homes.  i stopped by the shelter before going to the Ball and was really tempted to take home a few kitties! …a grey and white fuzzy one named Tony and his buddy Vinny …Snowflake the office kitty …a brown tabby named Sidney.  YUP!!  there’s a kitty there with MY NAME!!!:)

helping homeless cats and dogs is a cause i feel very strongly about.  all my furry babies are rescues.  Rajah and Aladdin were adopted from a foster home when i was going to college in Pittsburgh.  not even a year after moving to CT, Luna joined the family.  she was adopted from a pet adoption day at Petco.  i went in for cat litter and came out with a 3rd cat (and achieved crazy cat lady status):) my dog Haskell was adopted from a foster home in Tennessee.  he was almost 2 years old when he joined the family.  in the past, i’ve fostered and rehabilitated feral cats.  it was one of the most rewarding challenges i have ever experienced.  seeing a cat that wants nothing to do with you transform into a purring lap cat that goes off to a good home is a really good feeling, and makes you feel like you did something right and helped give a kitty a second chance at life.

when i found out about the CATSquerade Ball, i immediately contacted Connecticut Cat Connection and offered to photograph the event and donated a pet portrait session for the silent auction.  the CATSquerade was a huge success!!  the Ball was sold out and raised lots of money for kitties!  here are some highlights from the CATSquerade Ball!!  meow!:)
